Backpacking trip to China

Published on July 5, 2012, by in Backpacking, Travel.

I met many backpackers on a trip around China who have tried to the chaotic city of Guangzhou to address. The west side of town is full of narrow streets with old buildings and small suppliers. Shamian Island and the Zhujiang River is the home of old colonial buildings. The streets are lined with trees and banyan are much slower pace than the rest of the city. Just north of Shamian Guangzhou began to be interesting. Qingping market is located in blocks of the city and is known for vendors selling everything from dried cockroaches live scorpions. The government has cracked down on the market in the past decade, previously known for the sale of bears in cages and other parts of endangered species. A little further north again, you meet Down Street (Shang Xia Lu). The road winds to the north for several miles and is full of neon lights, old buildings have been converted into shops. The explosion of techno music and store staff are hitting the door and screaming trying to sound more than the next store to get your attention to finish.

The old people sit together to play Chinese chess and shouting over each other trying to throw their two cents around some of the largest road where you find the best road course in China, chuans. They are skewered lamb cooked over charcoal and seasoned with cumin and chili. If possible, make Guangzhou the last stop on your tour. This way you do not need to drag a backpack filled with shops, because Guangzhou is the best place to shop all over the world. And the wholesale market for the rest of the Asian markets. Is there a market for literally everything. Check Haiyin Shichang for electronics, Wan Ling Shi Chang then everything under the sun, but the best is centrally next Zhanxi Lu Shi Chang’s station. It has buildings full of watches, accessories, clothing and shoes. It is the cheapest place to shop in China and not even have to negotiate hard. The lack of tourists in GZ has kept prices low and will be more stuff getting a little over wholesale price.
